Looking for a BARBRI alternative, or a cheaper SQE1 course?

That is the most common reason people land here, so it is worth answering plainly. The established providers are more expensive because they sell something we do not: timetabled teaching, tutor contact, a cohort, and in BPP's and ULaw's case a classroom. If you need those, pay for them. They work.

What LexVerity Academy sells is coverage and practice at subscription price: all 13 FLK1 and FLK2 subjects, a large single-best-answer question bank where every answer carries its citation, and full-length mocks. £34.99 a month, or £89 for three, with no deposit and a free tier that is not time-limited.

Who each option suits

A classroom provider (BPP, ULaw)
You want structure imposed on you, contact hours, and people to study alongside. You have the budget.
A tutored online course (BARBRI, QLTS School)
You want self-study with a safety net: someone to ask, and a defined programme to follow.
LexVerity Academy
You are disciplined, you have the legal background, and what you actually need is complete coverage and a lot of realistic questions without a four-figure fee.

Questions

Is LexVerity Academy affiliated with BARBRI, QLTS School, BPP or the University of Law?
No. LexVerity Academy is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with any provider named on this page. Each is named only to make the comparison specific and checkable.
Where do the figures for other providers come from?
Each figure comes from that provider's own public page, checked on 30 July 2026 and linked in the table. Course fees change, so confirm the current figure with the provider before enrolling.
Is LexVerity Academy cheaper than BARBRI, BPP, the University of Law or QLTS School?
On the published figures, yes, and by a wide margin. Their SQE1 courses run from £1,990 to £7,100 as a one-off fee, often with a deposit. LexVerity Academy is £34.99 a month or £89 for three months, with no deposit. They are not selling the same thing, though: the higher fees buy classroom time, tutors and a cohort, which we do not provide.
What is the best SQE1 course?
It depends on how you learn. If you need timetabled teaching and a cohort around you, a classroom provider is worth the fee and we would say so. If you are disciplined, already have the legal background, and want coverage plus a large cited question bank at a fraction of the cost, a self-paced subscription suits you better.
Is there a free SQE1 course or free trial?
A free LexVerity Academy account unlocks the first section of every one of the 13 subjects, with no card required. It is not time-limited.
